This is the twin lake in Solok regency West Sumatera Indonesia, the lokal people name them Danau Diatas (Upper Lake)* and Danau Dibawah (Down Lake)*. The location is quite nearly each other. The located of both lakes are totally different, the Danau Diatas is standing beside the main road of Padang-Muara Labuh on the right side and Danau Dibawah is standing at Bukit Sileh, Lembang Jaya sub-district.

The main tourist attractions in the south for everyone in local and around the world, for both of lakes are needed to improve the capability to support as the place of tourist destinations to enjoy naturality and country side. But, I have visited more time around this lake are still the same. For me, i just ignored it because i am only take the benefits of fresh air and beautiful scenery landscape. To all of you as a backpacker or tourist need more information or clues to make this journey more astonishing.
Actually, there are four lake in Solok regency. They are Singkarak Lake, Twin Lake (UL and DL), and Talang Lake. But UL, DL, and Talang Lake located are the same place. Why people always say Danau Kembar (Twin Lake)?. The simple answer is all of twin lakes are standing side-by-side just 300m distances each other. The main road is dominated this trip called Padang - Muara Labuh - Kerinci. For Talang Lake is located 4,5km and standing at nearly Talang Mountain. Currently, i can't still visited with spesific reason from local goverment. The Talang Mountain just erupted in passed years ago.
Things To Do in Danau Kembar (Twin Lakes)
As the top three lakes in Solok regency, this destination is really amazing to visit. Why?. As a local person, i divided in to three main things you can grab benefits of this oppourtunity.
1. Feel the deep Haze.
I have seen several time of this conditions. The situation is really amazing after hard rain or when evening comes. Looks like a zombie place that i saw in TV. The speed of my car really low, just make sure the conditions infront of me is safe and a few minute from the juntions after gas station at Lubuk Selasih, i found the deep haze and so ballistic moment.
Tips
When you get this oppourtunity just make sure your car speed in 20 - 30 km/h for safety reason. So be careful.
2. Tea Walk.
Tea walk is available on the main road to Twin Lake, from Padang is located left and right side. The perfect location to capture the green color of tea leaves. If you want to stop by for a while really recomended. It's so amazing and the fresh air blowing my face and really cold at the moment.

You can freely to walk on the tea leave farm. This is the goverment private company to provide tea as their main product. Taking a picture as the main spot and do selfie as you want. No entering fee charge, just pay for parking fee IDR 3,000 - IDR 5,000.
Around here some tiny shops serve snacks, beverages, of fried corn. You can find also the children offer you a bucket of srawberry fruit that really recommended to buy. From local farmer, usually they are using organic. The prices around IDR 15,000 - IDR 25,000 depending the size. You can bargain get the best price.
3. Local Farmer.
This is the main local farmer for West Sumatera. The main ingredients of Padang food are available around here sucah as chillies, tomatoes, potatoes, shallot, etc. They are diligently to maintain their land to grow any plant. You can see all farmers in community to enjoy with cool weather, from there you can capture moment by your camera.
Tips
Stop by for a while to feel this moments. I have tried a few time to do that and really amazing experience. And i talked to them how to treat the plants and others. So, you can do as well.
4. Enjoy the Lakes.
Our destination is the twin lake. The location is really easy to reach. The positions of the UL is on the right right side. So amazing to see the beautiful lake infront of me and sometimes need a time to spend to uplift my hectic day. For DL need more time to reach it, but i am prefer UL.
Tips
The entering fee is a quite cheap. Each of person IDR 5,000 for adult and IDR 3,000 for child. Parking fee IDR 5,000. You can walking through the path to enjoy any gandola or boat. To proceed just any charge fee for each person.
The amenities are available. Toilets, tiny shops, a little mosque for moslem.
How to Get There.
As a backpacker you can catch the bus from Padang. There are two optional. The first one, the destination to Solok and you can stop at Lubuk Selasih, the cost IDR25,000. The second one direct through Alahan Panjang from Padang. The cost is IDR 35,000 - IDR 40,000.
Tips To Do All of This Things
1. If you want to get there just make sure enough time before departure. Because, you have need time around 3-4 hours to reach this destination. But, not all of the things to do above you can enjoy. Just the lakes only.
2. If you want to fell all of moments above, just rent a car or add this schedule in to your all travel destinations in West Sumatera.
3. There is no ATM around there. Make sure enough some money to cover your journey.
4. If you have travel sickness, make sure some medicines are ready on your backpack.
5. To enjoy all of destinations above are taking time almost one day tour.
6. There are no valuable restaurant around the lake. Just snacks and beverages. My recommendation is prepare some foods that cover your lunch or good food feel more full. Or just buy strawberry or passion fruit that available all road long on the right and left side.
7. Put your trash in plastic bags and do not throw it away on your car window.
